HIPS (Polystyrene)
Shop HIPS sheet for prototypes, models, displays, formed parts, set work and general fabrication. HIPS—high impact polystyrene—is a practical sheet material where low cost, easy fabrication and a paintable surface are important.
What is HIPS sheet used for?
HIPS is commonly used for model making, prototypes, point-of-purchase components, display work, scenic and studio fabrication, and thermoformed parts. It can be cut, shaped, formed and finished using processes appropriate to the thickness and application.
The current range is white HIPS sheet in defined panel sizes. These fixed-size products are sold as SHEET. Check the individual listing for thickness and dimensions before ordering.
HIPS compared with ABS
HIPS and ABS can overlap in fabricated-plastic work, but they are not identical materials. HIPS is often selected when economy and ease of forming are priorities; ABS may be preferred where greater toughness or a textured finished surface is required.
