UVO Colorants
UVO Colorants are concentrated, phthalate-free urethane color pigments that resist ultraviolet light. By adding a small amount of UVO colorant to a compatible epoxy, urethane rubber, plastic, or foam system, these pigment dispersions yield opaque castings. Translucent effects are achieved with alternative color systems. For fluorescent color effects, fluorescent colorants should be used instead.
Features
UVO colorants are highly concentrated and offer excellent dispersion and consistent color. Very small amounts will color a proportionally large volume of liquid material. The more colorant added, the more dramatic the color effect. Recommended loading range is 0.01% to 3% of the total system weight. Exceeding this range may result in cure inhibition or oozing.
User determines amount to add. If using colorant for the first time, test by adding a few drops to a small batch and observe the results. Multiple test castings may be required to achieve the desired color. Results may vary depending on the UV resistance of the epoxy or urethane system used.
Instructions
The following loading levels are provided as guidelines. Results may vary.
By weight using a gram scale. Add colorant at 0.01% to 3% of the total mixed system weight. Concentrations above 1% yield solid opaque colors. Adding more than 3% by weight may cause cure inhibition.
By volume measured in drops. Add 10 drops of colorant per 3 oz (88 ml) of mixed material. When using a translucent casting material, use one drop to maintain translucency.
Directions for use. Store and use materials at approximately 73°F / 23°C. Wear vinyl gloves to prevent skin contact. After dispensing Parts A and B, add colorant to Part B and mix thoroughly. Combine Parts A and B and mix according to the technical instructions provided for the specific casting material.
Blending colors. Different colors may be blended on a palette to create custom shades before adding to the material. Colors shown in literature or online are for reference only. Actual color results may vary by material, application, color concentration, and processing conditions. Small scale testing is recommended.
Pantone colors are approximations only. Color perception may vary between individuals and materials. The end user is responsible for determining color suitability. No warranty is provided for exact color matching.
