Epicā¢ Epoxy ThinnerĀ is a clear, water-like liquid that will lower the viscosity of Smooth-OnĀ casting and laminating epoxies.Ā Epicā¢Ā can be added in different proportions to an epoxy systemĀ and improves flow-ability, making it easier to mix and pour.Ā Epicā¢Ā will also aid in reducingĀ bubble entrapment.
Epicā¢Ā Epoxy ThinnerĀ IS NOT A SOLVENT, is not hazardous and contains no VOCās or phthalates.Ā Solvents that are commonly used to thin epoxies cause shrinkage.Ā Epicā¢Ā is 100% reactive fluid,Ā does not evaporate and does not cause shrinkage.Ā Epicā¢Ā also facilitates higher filler loading andĀ gives better wetting and impregnation.
Instructions
PREPARATION -Ā Store and use all materials at 73Ā°F / 23Ā°C. Avoid breathing fumes - use in a well ventilated area at minimum. NIOSH approved respirator is recommended. Wear safety glasses, long sleeves and rubber gloves to minimize skin contact.
USAGE -Ā Epicā¢ ThinnerĀ is added by weight. A gram scale is required. Read and follow directions given on the technical bulletin for theĀ EpoxAcastā¢Ā orĀ EpoxAmiteā¢Ā product before addingĀ Epicā¢ Thinner.
Important - Physical and performance properties (including Shore hardness) of cured epoxy system may be lower in proportion to the amount ofĀ Epicā¢ ThinnerĀ added. Do not exceed recommended loading maximum of 10% of epoxy Part A, as the epoxy system may not cure. A small scale test is recommended if outcome is uncertain.
MEASURING AND MIXING -Ā AddĀ Epicā¢ ThinnerĀ to Part A of the epoxy system and pre-mix thoroughly before adding Part B. Mix all parts thoroughly and apply. Usage Example -Ā Epicā¢Ā Epoxy Thinner andĀ EpoxAmiteā¢ 100Ā withĀ 101 HardenerĀ 100gĀ EpoxAmite 100Ā (Part A) + 5gĀ Epicā¢ ThinnerĀ (Mix Thoroughly) + 24gĀ EpoxAmiteā¢ 101 HardenerĀ (Part B) = Viscosity: 900 cps Shore Hardness: 84D
