HIPS (Polystyrene)

HIPS also called High Impact Polystyrene is a low cost and versatile plastic sheet that is easy to cut, bend and fabricate. HIPS is often used as a project material for art, scene, set-deck or cosplay projects, as well as model making and studio work. Thicker sheets are used for high-strength, machinability and low cost are required. 

HIPS is most often used for pre-production and prototypes due to its lower costs, ease of fabrication, painting and gluing and rigid dimensional stability.
