King StarBoard is a marine-grade high-density polyethylene sheet designed for wet and outdoor environments. It machines with many standard woodworking tools, does not need paint and will not rot or delaminate. It also behaves differently from plywood: it expands with temperature, is not a structural framing material and does not accept ordinary adhesives reliably.
Good fabrication uses sharp tools, support on both sides of the cut, relieved edges, correctly sized fastener holes and a load-bearing framework.

Use accurate templates and plan gaps, slots or oversized holes from the manufacturer’s expansion guidance. Avoid trapping long panels rigidly between fixed boundaries.

Cut with sharp tooling
Support the sheet fully and use a blade intended for plastic or non-ferrous materials. Feed steadily so chips clear and the edge does not melt or chatter.

Rout and finish edges
Use a sharp carbide router bit for profiles and openings. Ease sharp edges with a small radius, scraper or approved finishing method.

Drill clean holes
Back up the work, clear chips and avoid heat build-up. Size holes for fasteners and thermal movement as the fabrication guide requires.

Fasten without crushing
Use corrosion-resistant hardware and distribute load. Tighten only enough to hold the part. Over-tightening can dimple the surface and prevent movement.

Can King StarBoard be glued?
Ordinary adhesives do not form a dependable permanent structural bond. Prefer mechanical fastening or welding; when adhesive is necessary, use a system and preparation specifically approved by King Plastic.
Can I use woodworking tools?
Yes. Sharp carbide woodworking tools are commonly used, with feeds and blades chosen to cut soft plastic cleanly.
Does it need paint?

Why do holes need clearance?
