A gelcoat blister is a raised area caused by pressure beneath the surface. Water movement, soluble materials, laminate defects and coating history can all contribute. A few isolated blisters and widespread osmotic damage are different repair decisions.

Step-by-step method

  1. Map and document

    Grind back to clean, solid material and feather the repair. Avoid cutting deeper than necessary. Structural fibre damage requires a laminate repair, not filler alone.

  6. Rebuild and fair

    Wet out and laminate as specified, then fill and fair the surface. Maintain cure temperature and prepare between stages.

  7. Restore protection

    Apply compatible primer, barrier coats and antifouling at the specified thickness and recoat windows. Record products, batch numbers and dry-film targets.
