    Reserve sharp shears for fibreglass. Dull blades pull the weave and contaminate the edge. Cut every ply before mixing and stack it in application order.

  4. Consolidate without starving the laminate

    A laminating roller helps move trapped air toward an edge. Choose the roller profile and width to match the fabric and geometry. Clean or replace it before cured resin compromises the surface.

  5. Hold parts in alignment

    Dry-fit clamps and temporary fasteners. Protect clamp faces with release film or tape, and use enough pressure to close the joint without squeezing out all of the adhesive.

  6. Sand with extraction

    Sand only cured material. Connect the sander to a suitable extractor, keep the pad flat and move through grit stages deliberately. Hand blocks and longboards remain essential for edges and fair surfaces.

  7. Organize for repeatability

    Use labelled bins for clean tools, contaminated tools and replacement consumables. A simple batch sheet for ratio, temperature and timing often prevents more failures than another power tool.

Mix only the quantity you can apply within the stated working time. Epoxy cures faster and produces more heat when left in a deep mixing pot.

They are reliable when matched to the resin/hardener set, primed and operated through full strokes. For very small or unusual batches, use the manufacturer’s approved weighing method.

Can I clean epoxy tools with solvent?

Follow the product guidance. Preventing cure on a tool is easier than cleaning it later, but solvent use adds exposure and fire risks. Never clean skin with solvent.
